Management of coastal areas in Tunisia

Coastal areas are the common points between oceans and continents. They represent an ecosystem in its full part with great diversity. As a result, it is under a crescent human pressure through high demands for space and other natural resources. This pressure is the result of population growth and economic development (agriculture, tourism, transport, boating etc.). Furthermore, this ecosystem is under natural pressures resulting from the exchange of the atmosphere with water and soils, including climate change and rising sea levels. Moreover, it is necessary to anticipate integrated management of coastal areas aiming at attaining sustainable development.
