Partial Solar Eclipse

The Earth will witness a second partial eclipse this year, on Tuesday, October 25 th , 2022. This eclipse
will be visible from most of Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and Western Asia. In the case of
Tunisia, the Moon will cover about 6% of the Sun's surface. The Moon will reach the edge of the Sun
at 10:40 a.m., which is the beginning of the partial eclipse, the eclipse will reach its maximum at
11:24 a.m. and its end will be at 12:08 p.m.
On this occasion, the Tunis Science City (TSC), in collaboration with the Astronomical Society of
Tunisia (AST), will dedicate the whole morning period of October 25 th for the observation of this
astronomical event from 10.00 am in the main courtyard of the TSC.
In addition to observations with telescopes of the eclipse phases, a conference entitled “Partial Solar
Eclipse October 2022” dedicated to the large public will be presented.

It is absolutely imperative to avoid the observation of the phenomenon with the naked eye. Special
glasses are available for sale in the scientific shop of the Tunis Science City.
