CINEMANA festival

from 03-09-2022 to 09-09-2022

The “Alliance Française de Tunis” organized the second edition of the CINEMANA festival from September 3rd to September 9th at the Tunis Science City.

As placed under the label of the French-speaking world and training in the cinema industry, CINEMANA aimed to support young people and to offer them training opportunities and recognition for their cinematographic works.

CINEMANA aimed to contribute to the creation of a cinematographic network representing all the regions of Tunisia through the initiation to different cinema professions, the promotion of skilled young directors and the validation of their vocation.

The participants were students in the audiovisual or fine arts fields or active members of film clubs or cultural associations. They were aged between 16 and 30 years old and come from all over Tunisia: Tunis, Gabes, Kef, Sousse, Ben Arous, Nabeul, Bizerte, Kasserine, Sfax, etc.

Some of the young people who attended the training sessions are very active members of regional associations such as: Sicca Jazz in Kef, Nomad 08 REDEYEF in Metlaoui-Gafsa, Art Maknassi in Sidi Bouzid, FTCC in Gabes, the Faculty of Letters and the Cinema Association in Kairouan, etc.

80 Tunisian short films were submitted. 15 were selected for the official competition and 11 for the out-of-competition screening.

The winning films  received one of the 6 prizes, and the support from professionals in the field for the production of a future film.

The jury of the official competition was composed of Mourad Ben Cheikh, director - Lamia Horrigue, academic - Saoussen Maalej, actress.

Master classes open to the public were introduced by : Slim Larnaout, producer and director specialising in visual effects - Hichem Ben Ammar, Tunisian director - Nassim Regichi, specialist in physical special effects - Nidhal Chatta, Tunisian producer and director.

The event was free. Meetings, master classes, screenings and the concert by Yasser Jradi are open to all.
