Invasive marine species

from 26-02-2022 to 26-02-2022

At 2.00pm at Ibn Khaldoun auditorium

The Tunisian marine coasts host approximately 2500 animal species and 600 plant species (Macrophytes and Phanerogams). However, this important marine and coastal biodiversity is threatened by marine invasive species.

Indeed, marine invasive species threaten our marine ecosystems. They have significant impacts on biodiversity, ecosystems, fisheries and mariculture (the breeding and rearing of marine organisms for human consumption), human health, industrial development and infrastructure.

In this context, the Tunis Science City organises a conference on Saturday  February 26th, 2022 under the theme of "Invasive marine species",  aiming at tackling an important issue that is not often familiar to the public. This conference will be presented by three eminent Tunisian scientists.
