"The will to overcome the handicap"
The Tunis Science City organized the National and International Day of Persons with Disabilities, on Tuesday, the 3rd of December, 2019 . The programme included three main sections: lectures, an exhibition representing “Products made by persons with disabilities” and success stories.
This day was declared by the United Nations on the 3rd of December, 1992, in order to encourage and promote the inclusion of persons with disabilities in economic, social and political life.
The National and International Day of Persons with Disabilities is a good opportunity to emphasize on some main principles which are forgotten most of the time. “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”. The respect of this dignity is due to each person, valid or invalid, and involves the recognition of fundamental rights like the right to education, the right to healthcare, the right to access to work or other public spaces and the right to rest and leisure.
The events organized within this occasion invited us to change the way we perceive persons with disabilities or invalid.
