The European Researchers' Night

Tunis Science City (Tunisia) in collaboration with

Descubre Foundation (Spain)

September 24th, 2021, from 4.00 pm to 9.00 pm

The Tunis Science City, in collaboration with Descubre Foundation, will participate in The European Researchers' Night within the framework of the “MonuMai” project, on Friday, September 24th, 2021, from 4.00 pm to 9.00 pm. This project is a part of a twinning programme between Tunisia and Spain under the theme of “Institutional support for the improvement of the Tunisian research and innovation system performance”. MonuMai aims at bringing closer to the citizen the different heritages involving Art, Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, and social communication of science.

MonuMai is based on citizen science through a participative approach and procedure, the main citizen’s role of which is to take photos of different historical monuments, though enriching the project with a set of data. A mathematical algorithm is developed in order to identify the different architectural styles and discover the mathematical mysteries behind each photo.

During the European Researchers’ Night, a common programme with the Descubre Foundation will be presented hand in hand in both Tunisian and Spanish sides: the Tunisian side represented by different regions of Tunis and Testour and the Spanish side represented by in different towns in Grenade and Séville.

The contribution of the Tunis Science City consists of presenting MonuMai through entertaining workshops dedicated to the large public as well as different programme sections as follows:

  1. Conferences: with different themes divided into three sessions:
  • The Andalusian Art, History and Architecture,
  • Citizen science,
  • Mathematics and artificial intelligence.
