The night of stars 2022

From 7.00 pm to midnight

The Tunis Science City organizes the nineteenth edition of the Night of Stars, which will take place on Friday, August 5th, 2022, from 7.00 pm to midnight. It will be a great opportunity for all visitors to observe shooting stars in the sky, like the Perseids in a convivial atmosphere. Other beautiful astronomical surprises will be included in the programme, making it reach and varied.

This event will offer to all those who are curious about the sky, the possibility to observe it with telescopes along with different animations. Observations of planets Jupiter and Saturn Saturn and the constellations of the summer triangle: Lyra, Cygnus and Eagle.

Various animations and booths will be proposed to the public in collaboration with the Astronomical Society of Tunisia (SAT), the Association Jeunes Sciences de Tunisie (AJST), the Association of Young Astronomers (TAYA), the Association TUNSA, the African Association for the Development of Geospatial (AGEOS), the Tunisian Association of Aeronautics (ATA), the START Up Aca Robotics, and many other representatives of the civil society.

The programme of the event includes several conferences as follows:

- “Space observation for monitoring climate change", by Dr. Mehrez Zribi, Director of the Centre for the Study of the Biosphere from Space of Toulouse (CESBIO),

-“Jupiter's red spot and fluid mechanics", by Prof. Nader Masmoudi, professor of Mathematics at New York University, “Ferma Prize” for Mathematics in 2017, and “King Faisal Prize” for the year 2022 for  "Science" category, Member of the Academy of Arts and Sciences, USA,

- “Tunisia's first step into space: Challenge 1", by a representative from TELNET,

- “The implementation of artificial intelligence in space and space planetology", by Mrs. Salma Barkaoui, Dr. Engineer in Mathematics applied to Science.

A quiz is also planned during this event for the public of the Tunis Science City with very interesting prizes for the winners.

A parallel session of scientific interventions will also be presented at Ibn KHALDOUN auditorium of the Tunis Science City. A live streaming projection of the evening, astronomical observations, several booths of animations in biology, physics, astronomy, mathematics and funny scientific experiments will also be proposed to the public.

During this evening, musical interludes and shows will be performed by the young violinist Touka Askri. Towards the end of the event, the Centre of Dramatic and Scenic Arts of Manouba, and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, will perform a play on the Hafsid Abou Fehr remains, which aims at enhancing the archaeological site and "the gardens of Abou Fehr".
