World Water Day at the Tunis Science City

The City of sciences in Tunis, in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fishing, the Centre for Research and Water Technologies (CERTE), the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the Research in Action Association (REACT), celebrates the World Water Day , on Sunday, March 19 th , 2023.
The aim of this celebration is to raise the public’s awareness about the importance of water in our life and above all the need to protect it. This means supporting the goal of sustainable development, namely "Clean Water and Sanitation for All by 2030". Within this context, the City of Sciences in Tunis has elaborated a rich and varied programme spread over the whole day of March 19 th , 2023.
Lectures will be given by professionals in the field around national data on water resources management, water productivity, demand management, supply management and protection of natural resources, about an approach of the German Cooperation in the water sector in Tunisia, research and innovation as a change driver, and about the renovation of the Water Pavilion of the City of Sciences in Tunis, which is funded by the GIZ - project Support to Water Sector Reforms in Tunisia (A-RESET).
A MEDWAYCAP travelling exhibition provided by CERTE in Tunisia and produced within the framework of the MEDWAYCAP project by the Euro-Mediterranean Centre for Sustainable Development in Italy (SVI. MED.), which aims to inform and raise people’s awareness, thus engaging them in a journey of discovery of technical solutions for the valorization of non-conventional water. This exhibition presents in a playful manner 11 good practices around the Mediterranean and including natural-based solutions.
Scientific workshops dedicated to the visitors are included in the programme tackling different themes about water, such as the water cycle, accompanied by an educational video recounting the journey of water in nature, the physical transformations of water, and finally a quiz to close the day.
