An astronaut at the Tunis Science City

Jointly with the American Cultural Center, the Tunis Science City hosted, on July 20 - 21, an American woman astronaut, Mrs Marsha Ivins. Born April 15, 1951, in Baltimore, Maryland –USA, Mrs Marsha Ivins Is graduated from Nether Providence High School, Wallingford, Pennsylvania, in 1969. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Colorado in 1973. She was employed at the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center in the beginning of July 1974, working as an engineer for orbiter displays and controls. Mrs Ivins is also a veteran of five space flights, (STS-32 in 1990, STS-46 in 1992, STS-62 in 1994, STS-81 in 1997, and STS-98 in 2001), she has logged over 1,318 hours in space. Mrs Ivins visit to Tunisia comprised many activities. She gave a lecture at the Tunis Science City on July 20 followed by a dedication ceremony, and she visited  a scientific camp at Chatt Meriam on July 21.
