The Tunis Science City organized on Friday, April 5th, a science café under the theme of “Hydatidosis: transmission modes and prevention means”, which was presented by Dr. Hanen SMADHI REJEB, Associate Professor of pulmonary medicine at Abderrahmane Mami Hospital of Ariana, and Dr. Nada SOUISSI HMANI, Veterinarian Doctor and Regional Inspector at the Institute of Veterinary Research of Tunis.
Hydatidosis (or hydatid cyst) is a serious parasitic disease related to the development of larvae called ”hydatids” of the tapeworm Echinococcus multilocularis affecting herbivorous mammals , as well as omnivorous mammals and Man. Man is affected directly when hydatid cysts appear in its organism, and he is affected indirectly when this disease attacks domestic animals which represent the means of subsistence human beings.
