Identification of cetacean species and introduction to photo identification

In order to identify marine mammals, scientists have recourse to photo-identification. This method consists of taking photos of some bodies characteristics of each faced whale (scars, parasites, particular coloring, etc.). These characteristics, which are permanent in some cases, are different from one species to another and enable the identification of an individual among one given population.
