As usual, the World Earth Day is celebrated all over the world on the 22nd of April. Its main objective is to increase the international community’s awareness about the threats that face our planet. Overexploitation and overconsumption of natural resources by Man, such as water, energies and agricultural products, are mainly caused by global warming, greenhouse effect, rising of water level, glacial melting of both North and South poles, deforestation, destroyed biodiversity, animal and vegetal species extinction and desertification. The result is overwhelming, as the degradation is most of the time irreversible. Today, scientists talk about anthropization, which means the conversion of open spaces, landscapes, and natural environments by human action. As many science centers in the world, the Tunis Science City participated in celebrating this day by the elaborating a whole programme dedicated to people of all ages, including rich and varied activities, such as scientific workshops, lectures, theatre shows etc.
