Falling Walls Lab Tunis

from 21-09-2019 to 21-09-2019

Tunisia participated in the international Falling Walls Lab competition on Saturday, September 21st, 2019 at the Tunis Science City. It’s a contest dedicated to young professionals at the beginning of their careers having innovative ideas. It is a platform for excellent scholars, contractors and professionals belonging to different fields (art, engineering, biology, medicine, social science, etc.). During this international contest, the candidates presented, during only three minutes for each one, their research works, their business models, their projects or their innovative ideas, to their peers and to the multidisciplinary and distinguished jury. It was also a unique opportunity for meeting and networking. With the presence of, among others, Brain City Berlin Company (Berlin Partner), GIZ Tunisia, and DAAD Tunisia, the students and other Tunisian professionals had the opportunity to communicate and to get an idea about international collaboration projects.

The Falling Walls Lab is carried out in more than 80 countries with 100 laureate winners from around the world, including the Falling Walls Lab Tunis winner. The local winners will be invited to the final competition of Falling Walls Lab in Berlin and the prestigious international conference “Falling Walls”. During the past 11 years, the “Falling Walls” conference has been an annual event in berlin, which occurs each year on the 8th and the 9th of November in reference to the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9, 1989. The conference celebrates the exceptional and innovative research works in different fields. All will answer the question “WHICH ARE THE NEXT WALLS TO FALL?”.

Tunisia played host to this inspiring, multidisciplinary, and innovative event for the second time on the 21st of September at the Tunis Science City. This year, the organization was managed by the Faculty of Science of Tunis and the Tunisian Physical Society, with the German participation of Dr. Sana Amairi-Pyka. Our main Partners were the Tunis Science City, the Central University of Tunis, and the National Center for Nuclear Sciences and Technologies.
