International Conference on Popularization of Science

What is Science-Society Dialogue?

17th and 18th of March, 2020

The Tunis Science City (TSC) in partnership with the Tunisian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research – General Direction of Scientific Research (MESRS-DGRS), the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD, France), Pasteur Institute of Tunis (IPT, Tunisia), Research In Action Association (REACT) and with the support of the French Institute of Tunisia (IFT), the Spanish Embassy in Tunisia and the Cervantes Institute, will organize the first edition of the International Conference on Popularization of Science, ICoPS 2020. The aim of this international event is to improve science-society dialogue, by enhancing scientific mediation and interactions between scientists and citizens to promote responsible, inclusive and open research and innovation; for a better social impact in the world.

The program is spread over two days, on the 17th and the 18th of March 2020, and will include round tables with discussion panels and workshops, gathering personalities from Senegal, Togo, Egypt, Tunisia, Spain and France. Four topics will be tackled:

– Science and Society: towards a responsible, inclusive and open research.

– Science and Education: which interface between science and learner?

– Science and Media: how to better communicate for research improvement?

– Science and Art: productive links.

Following these exchanges, recommendations will be formulated and issued and will be freely accessible on the website of the ICoPS. On this occasion, researchers from varying cultural and disciplinary backgrounds, as well as specialists in scientific mediation all over the world, are invited to participate. The registration is free and depends on the availability of places. A trilingual translation (Arabic, French, and English) will be ensured during the event.
