Natural disasters cause many victims, damages and loss of lives. The United Nations celebrate each year the International day of natural disasters in order to launch awareness campaigns. The theme of this year is about the reduction of economic losses due to disasters. On this occasion, the Tunis Science City, in partnership with the National Institute of Meteorology, organized on Saturday, October 13 two lectures. The first one was entitled” Weather disasters in Tunisia: Flooding, strong winds and snow”, and was given by Mr. Farhat AOUNALLAH, Production Manager at the National Institute of Meteorology. And the second one was entitled “Seismic activity in Tunisia: History and simulation” and was given by Mr. Samir Ben Abdallah, Director of geophysics department at the National Institute of Meteorology. In addition to these two lectures, measuring instruments, a meteo-sation, as well as an earthquake simulator were presented to the public.
