Science and technology are considered today to be fundamental pillars, as wealth creation which is essential to development, is closely linked to scientific production and to the application of scientific discoveries.

In Tunisia, the participation of women in scientific fields has witnessed a remarkable increase in the recent decades, with a growing number of girls academically oriented to sciences, particularly in experimental sciences at the secondary school level, as well as in Engineering, Medicine and Life Sciences at the higher education level.

Young Tunisian girls, become increasingly numerous in high school and university, standing out for their academic excellence,  increasing perseverance in their studies, and representing, according to some studies, 55% of the research ecosystem in Tunisia, with a 66% rate of female researchers in higher education reaching.

To celebrate this feminine success in the different scientific and technological fields, the City of Sciences in Tunis organized the Sixth edition of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, on Saturday February 10, 2024 at the Ibn KHALDOUN Auditorium.

The event  featured leading scientists who shared their expertise and insights in a variety of scientific and technological fields, including digital science, biomedical engineering, neuroscience, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, environment, etc.
