Measurement of the Sun’s strength contest

from 26-04-2019 to 21-06-2019

Within the framework of the 100th anniversary of the International Astronomical Union (1919-2019), the Tunis Science City, in partnership with the Network for Astronomy School Education (NASE) launched an international competition for pupils of secondary school about the measurement of the Sun’s strength according to Robert Bunsen method (see the document below).

It was about the making of two experiments to determine the strength of the Sun (see the document below).

  • 1st experiment: determination of the Sun’s strength with the photometer with oil drop.
  • 2nd experiment: determination of the Sun’s strength with direct feeling.

The participating groups of pupils with their teachers were invited to do both experiments and fill in the table below and send it back to the following e-mail address: nase@gmail.com.100YEARS

The competition deadline was June 21st, 2019 in different countries of the world. The best groups had the opportunity to participate in the on-line final competition.
