UNESCO Kalinga Prize for the popularization of science 2019

The Tunis Science City will participate in the UNESCO Kalinga Prize for the popularization of science 2019 and will be represented by its General Director Professor Dorra GHORBEL, as member of the Jury with four other members. The Kalinga prize for the popularization of science was first created in 1950 after a financial donation from the Indian politician Biju Patnaik, the founder president of the Kalinga Foundation Trust in India. The Prize is awarded every two years for the great efforts of a personality who spent an exceptional career in different fields related to the popularization of the scientific culture. Thirty one personalities from Australia, Bahrain, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Ecuador, Egypt, France, India, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Morocco, Nigeria, Northern Macedonia, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Syria, and Thailand will participate. A number of participants will be chosen in a restricted list during a collective assessment meeting that will take place in the 13th of September, 2019 in Paris which will gather the five members of the Jury. The ceremony of the UNESCO Kalinga Prize for the popularization of science 2019 will take place in Budapest, Hungary from the 20th to the 23rd of November, 2019 on the occasion of the World Science Forum. The winner of the UNESCO Kalinga Prize for the popularization of science 2019 will obtain a financial reward of 40.000 U.S dollars, a certificate, and a UNESCO Albert Einstein Silver Medal.
