The Tunis Science citycelebrate on Sunday, March 24th, 2019, the World Tuberculosis Day. In order to raise awareness of citizens about this disease, two lectures were given. The second is entitled "What are the means of prevention against tuberculosis disease?" and was given by Dr. Ahmed REJEB, Hospital university professor in histology and pathology, and president of the National Assembly of the Order of Tunisian Veterinarians (CNOMVT).The program also included a play entitled "Tuberculosis Disease", as well as stands showing outbreaks of human tuberculosis and pathways of animal contamination, a projection of a series of photos of tuberculosis lesions and a microscopic observation of the bacteria responsible for tuberculosis.

Despite the great scientific progress made in recent decades, tuberculosis, responsible for nearly 4500 deaths per day, remains the leading infectious cause of death in the world. Human tuberculosis is due to a bacterium (Mycobacterium tuberculosis) most often affecting the lungs, is a preventable disease that can be cured. But the emergence of multidrug-resistant forms of tuberculosis poses a strong threat to health security. Bovine tuberculosis (zoonotic disease) is most often transmitted to humans during the consumption of unheated dairy products, from sick animals, or from raw or poorly cooked meat. The direct transmission of the illness between animals or infected animal products and humans is also possible. The Entry is Free.
